“Łowicz”, originally named "Pawie
Piora" (Peacock Feathers), is a vocal and dance ensemble, which was formed
in 1975. In 1980, the ensemble changed the name of the group to its present
name, “Polish Vocal-Dance Ensemble Łowicz in Melbourne.” The ensemble’s main
objectives are the practice and promotion of Polish folk songs and dances
amongst Melbourne’s youth, and cultivating the traditions of Polish folk
culture.
Under the artistic direction of Miroslaw
Kuszmider, Łowicz boasts approximately 20 enthusiastic and dedicated members in
the group and is not only a dancing
ensemble but also a family, where everyone contributes, celebrates, shares and
helps one another.
